Clauss stockman (Case, Schatt & Morgan, OR ?)

I just picked up a Clauss Stockman with yellow celluloid handles. I am trying to identify the manufacturer. I have read that Case or Schatt & Morgan made Clauss branded knives but this one is confusing me. To me it has the characteristics of Schrade and reminds me a lot of the Buck 301 made by Schrade. The shield looks a lot like the shields I have seen on PAL knives and some Schrade IXL's.

Anyone have any ideas?

It's a Boker USA.

Very interesting - I have seen Clauss knives made by Case, Queen City, Camillus and Robeson. Thats the first one made by Boker that I have seen. Nice find. BTW, that is from the 1950's to 60's.

Thanks Knifeaholic. Just out of curiosity what characteristics identify this as a Boker?

I've owned and probably still have a couple of Bokers exactly like this knife but with the Boker USA stamp. The bolsters and the matchstriker pull were what I noticed immediately. Without digging through everything to find one of them, I believe the pattern # is 9885.

OK. I found 2 Boker 9885 patterns that are close to the Clauss. However. There are 2 subtle differences that make me question if it is a Boker. Below are pics of the Boker's.

The first difference that I see are the handle pins. The Clauss pins are close to the top of the knife where the Boker's are almost centered.

The second difference is the matchstick pull. The Clauss has a rectangle pull with the triangles below the rectangle. It has 11 triangles. The Bokers have 17 on one and 18 on the other.

I have also seen a lot of the Boker's with side scales and cut-out side scales on one side. The Clauss does not have the cutout side scale.

Hopefully knifeaholic will chime in.
