Show Us Your Camillus Knives!

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

I bought this Camillus TL-29 yesterday, identified in the General Forum as mid- 50's to early 1960's GI issue. Still snaps like new and took a very quick edge. TJ mentioned how tough they are built and I have to agree - built like a milspec item for sure. OH

Monday I grabbed this short line 72 with bone handles along with a 3-1/2" Kutmaster jack with Celluloid handles. $12.75 shipped. Did I happen to mention the 72 is a short line bone handle with 2nd gen blades? Seller said the blades are a little lazy on both of them. I'm hoping a trip through the Sonic cleaner and a little slippery juice will help that some. ::pray::
Sellers picture.

Tuesday (last night) I grabbed this early 1047 Scout with black synthetic (but only slight shrinkage) handles and a saber ground on both sides main blade. As you can see from the sellers picture, it appears to be in excellent condition for it's age. Seller said the 1.5 gen blades have very good snap.

I do like Camillus knives, I don't have many since I traded off all my Remington reproductions but hear are a couple I have that I like real well. The first is one I just got last week from a member hear on AAPK It is ,as fair as I can tell,a 1940s to 1950s bone handled scout. The second one I have had for a little wow now and I am very impressed with what a well made knife it is. It is a bone handle 72 made in the 1990s. I have been told it was the first bone handled 72 that Camillus had made in 40 years.

Rich,
The blade is right as rain for the handle.
That is a small rope knife. You will also find a lot of them with the M. KLEIN tang stamp.
M. Klein is tool company out of Chicago. Camillus made electrician’s knives for Klein and probably that rope knife pattern as well. I have a small cigar box of those small rope knives, most stamped Camillus or M. Klein.

Thanks Jerry the tang stamp is 1960-1976.
Thanks Orvet the easy open notch doesn't line up with the nail pull on the blade that's why I didn't think it was right maybe did it that way so you can open it with gloves on?
It's a nice little knife and I'm happy to have it. Have to see if I can find a bail for it.
