EC SIMMONS (CHIPAWAY CUTLERY)

Post by 0078 »

I posted this knife one time before, but today I met a man who said he had one stamped just like it. He thought it was a knife manufacturerd for chipaway cutlery. Can any one shed any light on this or does anyone own a chipaway cutlery knife.

I always thought Chip Away Cutlery was one of EC Simmons marketing brands. ::shrug::

I really don't know, I was wondering how chipaway cutlery and ec simmons tang stamp looked. Was it just simmons on the tang stamp or was there another name on it to?

Chipaway was a house brand for Simmons. I think they also sold knives marked Enterprise.

Like Belknap Hardware had Blue Grass and Pine Knot.

A Chipaway knife would be so marked. I don't know if Simmons appeared anywhere on the knife.

Goins should tell. His book is principally a listing of tang stamps with accompanying history, if known.

I was also reading could be a walden knife (1870-1923). I seen a straight razor with the same tang stamping marked shelfield England.

I might be wrong?
But i think New York Knife made some of the early chipaway knives.
I'm thinking they make a version of the big cokebottle with the stamped lower bolsters.
Winchester, walden knife co and shapleigh made e.c. Simmons too.
