Remington poster knife knives

Can anyone shed a little info on who made these knives, when, and how many are in the set? They are not expensive knives but they are fun to collect. I have about 9 different ones thus far and I think there might be 15 or so in the full set. I appreciate any and all information provided. Rocky

That would not be one of the poster knives,all the ones I have saw like that are China stuff and can be got from SMKW. They can be bought in a whole set,they have a set of Barlow's just like that also. Are the ones you have made in the US?

These knives have been called by a variety of names and which name is correct, I am not sure. Some call these advertisement knives, novelty knives, card knives, poster knife, etc.. Reportedly they were made in the late 1990's and early 2000,( some have suggested mid 1980"s) and were made in the U.S. of A.. One seller told me they were made by Colonial Cutlery but when I talked with Bobby P. he stated they did produce several "card" knives similar in the acrylic/ knife construction, but did not have the rights to the Remington brand/tang stamp and did not make any Remington knives. They are similar to the Barlow from SMKW in having the Remington "poster" art insert but SMKW does not produce these from what I can gather. These I don't believe are made in China, but I could very well be wrong and hence my placing this thread seeking information. Any information would be well received. Thanks, Rocky

Well man if they say made in the USA I would say they are,if not then China.
The Remington poster knives came out starting in 1982 and up to 1997 with the 1123 folding hunter bullet knife and was t h e first and had a poster you could buy for ,I thank, $10,00. They where all done"all but the 1988" by L.W Duke. The 1988 was done by Bruce Wolf. They have become known as the poster knives.
I have never saw any like the one's you have that was made in the US,that's why I was interested. I can tell you that Camillus made all of the Bullet knives in those years along with all the Remington regular production knives until they went out of business 07. Now Bear&Son are making the US made Remington knives.
Can you post a pic of the tang stamp ,it should say made in USA if it was made in the USA.

You are singing to the choir brother, I own the poster knives from 1987 to 2000. I used the term poster knife knives related to the similar poster art insert in the knife and it was what one of the seller's called them. A recent article from the Remington collector's club reports that SMKW also has consignment rights to the Remington trade mark and produces some in the USA and the Barlow sets that are produce in China. The pic I provided when blown up shows the tang stamp circle around Remington over UMC and made in U.S.A around the circle. Again these are not expensive knives and are not highly collectable but I do find enjoyment in them and like the little knife in general. Thanks for your intrest and your feed back. Rocky

That is what I thought when I first saw the pic,that is what got my interest.I thought that was a USA stamp but I couldn't tell for sure. I have never saw or read about the knives you have their. I was not harping on the point of what you called them.I am simply fascinated that a set like that is out there and this is the first time I have saw them. I,like you,have collected the year knives for sometime now. That truly is a great find and yet another set to try and research and get.

They were 14 knives in the series and were less than $ 5.00 each if you bought the full set at once. Later on in the 2000's they started coming in a wooden display box. These knives were not available in the 80's or even early 90's.

Thanks so much for your help and response. Can you verify them being made at that time in the U.S. as the tang stamp indicates?
Currently on e-bay they go for around $15.00 each give or take a buck. I think it's a cool little knife to collect, however if they are made in China it might change my overall view. Gratefully yours, Rocky

I don't believe these were made in China, I'm pretty sure USA manufacture, by the same company that makes the drink Coke Cola 5 cent knives. They have the same handle rivets, rivet location, blade profile, blade composition, etc.

Good info and as you guy's have said if it says USA on the tang thin it is USA made. Another great set of knives to hunt down and collect.

I had the foresight, or I am a hoarder, years ago to start saving the SMNW catalogs thinking the info contained therein may be of value years down the road. They cover the 1980-90`s and are packed away but when I am able to get to them I will check and see when they were listed for sale

RC, thanks for showing your set! I love it brother! This is what I have thus far and I have the 2 "Bear Knives" coming in the mail. Not far to go but they are hard to come buy. The ones I have have a pretty nice factory edge on them, nice and sharp. ::tu::I believe there are alot to collect in this set. This is a partial list that are available from what I have found and may be more than this. Thanks MB for your input I would love to have that information on the history/catalog information.
