What is Your Latest Old Schrade?

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

This little guy showed up in my mailbox along with a couple others.

Schrade Walden 835Y - It is in the catalogs from 1957 to 1981.

It is old & used like me. ::uc::
But it still has plenty of life in it and good snap.

Nice Mr. Orvet. Have not seen one of those with the big pins, or at least I've not noticed before. 8)

I'm fairly new to knife collecting, and I have recently bought about a dozen pocket knives lately- of various brands.

This one that I got today from an antique store is my 1st Schrade! It's a no. 7703, according to a listing in a 1926 Schrade catalog I saw on-line. It really looks like it has 'been there'!

Enjoy!

John

Great lookin' Schrades there Dale and John!

Here's one I just got in, bombed by Scott, it's a Schrade Walden, stamped 176 on the back, that has been re-handled in mesquite wood.

Thanks, I looked it up in it was in the 1928 supplement cat,

they have it listed as a 9709 gst

with flexible file blade

a surgical lance blade

and a pen and spear blade

not sure as to why the surgical lance is so clean, maybe the polish put on it,
or it was never pulled out. I don't think it would be stainless.

it is in real great shape, has across the room snap!! glad to add it my
Schrade Cut co. collection

I have recently grown fond of these small gentleman knives, with the tip style bolsters

I think it is too but that's just an opinion. Sorry I can't help you with verifiable information on the age but I can welcome you to AAPK. Glad to have you aboard.

Neat trick with the magnifying glass. I'll have to store that away in the ole brain cage.

TY for the response bamafan or buck on the chat last nite were likewise surprised by the magnifying glass ; old boy scout trick I had in my hat. was my first time to picture a knife so was not prejudiced. they told me to get a camera with the flower thingy on it for the closer work on the knives and it worked out great. hopefully somebody will have an idea about the date; will post another pic of the entire knife including the broken pen blade.
thanks again
