Help with identifying a ka-bar in bad shape ...

I was going through an ooooooold tackle box, hunting for old lures, and I found this ka-bar knife. It's obviously been put to use, and perhaps lived a full life The handle was literally crumbling off the tang, but it still folds back and all.

Does anyone recognize it, based off my horrid pic ? (sorry all I have for a camera at the moment is an ipod) It's a 3.5" blade.

Also ... is this restorable ? Is it worth the effort, or is a common run-of-the-mill ka-bar ? It seems a shame to let it turn into a fossil ... but at the same time, idk if it's common or unique, etc.

I found this one on ebay, looking at the bolsters, I think this is what your knife should look like. As far as restoring let one of these other guys answer that they know way more then I.

At least get the rest of that Celluloid off there before it does more damage than it already has. Looks like you will have to remove the bolsters. Hard to tell from just a picture.

As far as restoring it, how much do you like it? IMO no matter how valuable it might have been, the Celluloid rot has negated that so it's now just the knife and do you want to save it.

Well ... thanks for your help guys lol Yeah I think that's prol my knife up there, so that's good news Thanks for finding it

Bad news about it's worth being negated by the celluloid rot But even mint they weren't that valuable financially I guess. And I have no personal attachment to it ... so I may just mess with it some for fun and not worry about trying to restore it as though it were a rarity
