Looking for some help please

Post by joshbobbitt30 »

I went Yard selling last week and came across some nice finds. I got a Buck 501 not full blade but still works for a buck. And then I found this Case knife, it's like a stainless steel shell handle which I had never seen before on the tang it just has Case XX. I am no where near good at dating Case knives or anything else so I was wondering if any of you fine gentlemen would assist me in the age of the knife and a guess at the around price to see if I got a good deal. Any information would be great thanks.

I'm certainly no Case knife expert either, but to me that looks like an Imperial frame with a Case blade in it. ::shrug::

That's what I was thinking too but wanted to make sure I have some imperial jack knives and the handle looks very close to this one but I had to pull the trigger on it just in case.

On the bright side, both knives had good steel in them. If the knife works okay, sharpen it up and give it some pocket time.

Yeah. It looks like imperial or Colonial. Post some pics of an end view just to be sure. Tell tale sign is the bent in sheet metal bolsters. But it sure looks like the stick on wallpaper (fake celluloid) handles that Imperial used.

Well nobody axed me nuthin' but if they did I'd say
if I was driving around to yard sales burning gas & daylight
and came across an Imperial shell knife missing the shell's
skin with a reshaped Case blade I'd try to get it bundled
with the lopsided softball with the split seam for a $1. ::smirk::

Sounds like you did very well, and it is interesting even if they"Case"never made a shell handle knife. Use it, and you have a new conversation piece.
