What do I have?
I posted in the Knife Questions forum with about 40 looks but no answers. I don't want to re-post here but I will show the picture. The knife is new. A friend had it in his store for years and when he sold the store he kept this one. He is letting them go in a consignment shop with a lot of others he considered collectable. The COA states it is made in USA and I am thinking it is a 1980s replica. It has Nickel Silver bolsters and a stamp that is suppose to commemorate a move of the factory to NC. I checked the forum and could find nothing of this nature.

Is there a model number? Did you receive a box or any paper work? Remington has a lot of comerative knives they have made. Can you post a good pic. of the tang and also the back side if there is any writing, also look on ebay a lot times people have the exact same knife as you with all the info you need. Sorry probably not much help but give those few things a try you might find an answer.

Re: What do I have?
Thanks again guys. I posted these additional pics on the other tread so I will post them here. Sanders Knives and knifetime chimed in with some enlightenment. The knife is most probably made by Camillus in 2004. That makes a lot of sense. The years get away and I thought it would have been longer ago than that when these knives were originally purchased for sale by a friend that owned a store but what it is is what it is. It matters to me that it is a USA made knife and it is the perfect knife I have been looking for to carry in my back pocket. I just did not want the Case backpocket with the lanyard hole. It was just too big and it had the one blade. If Case made a bulldog with a lanyard hole and no clip I think that would work. Maybe even a 3 5/8" backpocket.
Thanks again for the assistance.

The first 1173 came out in 1983,like wishful had said, and then again in 1984 in a in a lockback configuration It the 1173L.The fist one in known as the baby bullet ,It was also known as the knife without a poster. They made another in 1991 in derlin stag.In 2003 they did one in cocobolo handle. And thin their are the silver bullet knives they came in 3 configuration, one had a pearl shield. The became a regular production knife along with the 1123 and have been made every year since.
It is delren.
You have for sure a 2004"because that is the year they used that stamp"Camillus made 1123 baby bullet with the derlen handle. If you need any other information just give me a PM.

Thanks Knifetime. It will ride in my back pocket for a while to see if I like it. The antler buttons on the lanyard and the history of these knives will add to my hunting trips. I hope the knife and traditions that go with it can be passed on to my grandchildren.

This is what I started collecting first and have researched it for years. So buyer beware on that one.
That is not a 1984,if it was it would be worth a whole lot more.He could be misinformed or trying to scam. As I said before that tang stamp was used in the spring of 2004 to commemorate Remington 's move of their headquarters. It was only used for a short time.Back to t h e knife the 1983 reproduction baby bullet had a jigged derlin handle that was brown. I don't have one,I wish I did, but I am looking at it in Remington knives past and present right now. It has the UMC,MADE IN THE USA stamp like just about all the USA made Remington 's .
It is a great knife and a good looking knife to to but not a 84.
