i got one its not as nice as the ones thats on here its a walter bros i need to give it a good cleaning does anybody know a adge on this knife

Thanks Kathy. Hopefully the pearl hound dog won't get loose..............it took WAY too long to catch him the first time!.

Bret bought me three quills today for my birthday. Two of them are Friedmann & Lauterjung and the third one is a Holley. I love Holley knife even with the wear, but the Friedmann & Lauterjung knives are very cool. The F & L's both have great snap still. I just imagine J.B. Champlin peddlin' these out of a suitcase.

Here is an American knife co. (1849-1875), I think it is an Ivory handle.
The length is 2"

Tortoise handle is a Southington, the Pearl is unmarked and the Wood is a Waterville. I included a photo showing how the back spring fills the handle of the knife.

The bottom one is a unique item in that it is a combination ink eraser and quill knife used to actually make quills.It works by taking the quill and pushing the point into the groove along both edges where it contacts the pointed edge of the blade;splitting the tip to allow ink to flow.The opposite end is a hard rubber ink eraser.
I have a couple more quill knives that are built on the end of letter openers;one pearl and the other ivory and tortoise shell.I'm trying to locate them now.
Note the B&B knife which is a large copy of the GW knife.The ad on the opposite side is for the Hydrocarbon Products Co.;and the list of products is like a Who's who of carcinogens:Benzol;Toluol;Xylol;etc.

This one is a bit unusual in that it has the patented Pellett blade pull to open the blade, and it works quite well
