Out of a Collection
Have been waiting for one of these for a long time. An acquaintance of mine Passed a few weeks back and I was contacted by his estate manager to come look at his Knives. The decedent served in Viet Nam and it is believed died of Agent Orange Causes. He was attached to a forward study and lookout group in his Psy. Ops. Capacity. He would take care of the dirty tricks. I made a purchase of several knives and this was one of them. From his the owners mouth he carried this in the Jungles of Viet Nam. It is of course a Woodsman Pal as that is it's formal name. In this instance it is known as Tool Kit Survival Type W. It was manufactured by WARREN & FRANK. Research say that is a correct maker for the Viet Nam era. WW2 before and Later on the manfs. Were different. The knife is great and the stories he could relate were better. Hope you like it, it is my first.

Edit: Strange I could not make out the last line of the stenciling in person but in the blow up in the post it is 66 and that would be a correct time period.
Edit: Also it does contain a magnifying glass fire starter in it's pouch. The other on other inside of sheath is vacant. If any one knows what went in it please let us know.

You are fortunate to come into possession of that piece Mossdancer, priceless. The stacked leather handles have held up really well to the test of time, it looks as though they are worn just to the point of being broken in properly, no signs of jungle rot...I'm sure it will hold a special place in your collection.

Thanks to both of you. I do consider myself lucky to have known the Vet. It does mean a lot to me. Unfortunate circumstances sometime bring unplanned results.
A few years ago I managed to purchase several knives from him including a butterfly type Hackman from Finland that is said to have been CIA issue.

That is really quite a tool there, Moss. I'm glad you were able to secure it and take care of it.
It's unfortunate your friend passed. Did you say he was in Psy Ops, as in psychological operations?
I was in the 8th Psychological Operations Battalion in Nam in 67-68. I was in Nha Trang.
