Wow Ryan that IS a beauty.
I just snagged one of the Birdseye 62s myself today, but she doesn't look quite that good!
Looking forward to seeing it in person, the 62 is one of my favorite GEC frames.

Sweet Montana Rick!
looks good!
by the way what did you use to get your leather sleeve so dark? I have that same one and I prefer my sleeves/sheaths like that.

Thanks. I 'exercise' the sheath extensively and then apply Neatsfoot Oil. Works like a charm.Wood-Guy wrote:Sweet Montana Rick!looks good!

Earl,
The barlow is one of a small number GEC made using plain bone covers. It's not a one-off. The color is the result of a lemon tea dip and bluing.
This is what it looked like out of the tube.

Got these in today... The new #79s in African blackwood & short run 1of7 Che Chen rosewood. Nothing like the smell of that oil from the factory.

^^
Looking good. Regarding the new 79s, can I assume they kept the main blade fairly thick, like on the origianl 79 whittlers?

Re: Mail Call, Post Your New GECs.
Good question, I'll have to do a comparison when I get home from work.
I need to put the three blade up next to the new two blade...
from what I recall biglmbass I don't think the blades are exactly the same, it doesn't flex that's for sure. It's sturdy enough.
I could be wrong though... Gotta see...
borrowed this pic hopefully it helps...
