Opinions on this Remington Pen Knife

Post by whitebuffalo58 »

I was looking this one over before putting it on Ebay last night and saw a couple of things I wanted to get opinions on. I've had this one too long to remember where I even got it and i'm not very versed in Remington knives.
First thing I wondered about is the file blade, is it correct for this knife? It's not marked.
The other thing is the way the primary blade passes the file blade. With the thinner file blade and the added spacer, it all fits nicely into the cavity without rubbing. But, if you look at the top view, it looks a bit odd. The primary goes beyond the file swedge.
Overall it's a great little knife, I just want to make sure it is what it thinks it is. If it gets a clean bill of health, it's going on Ebay. If not, it's going in my pocket. :D

Thanks for any input,

WB

Personally I would question the authenticity of the file blade, it has definately been installed in the frame post factory, and it appears that it doesn't open quite as far as it should.

WB, I looked in Sargent's 4th Edition for a swell center with a bomb shield like yours and didn't come up with anything. ::shrug:: It looks like a R72??.

It's a nice looking knife but not quite right IMO. I like the shape and the bone scales. For the reasons you pointed out the two blades do not seem to be an original matching pair. Just my 2p.

Thanks guys, that pretty much confirms what I was thinking. Still make a good one to throw in the pocket from time to time. ::tu::

I traded our good friend WB out of that old Remington because I thought I had the right pen blade for it. Turns out that at least this time I was right.
