Northfield Brand Blade Finish
Hey Folks,
A rainy day here in the south so I decided to play with my GEC collection and have a question. I have a few proto sunfish in the Northfield line and noticed the blades do not have the mirror type finish, never noticed this before. At first I thought the protos were not finished the same but then found another Northfield non proto and it has the same satin type finish. I only know of one knife of the Northfield line that was finshed with satin baldes intentionally. This was a sunfish 362208 in Tractor Green. Is this typical? do you have any with the same finish as this one below? Thanks BH

Re: Northfield Brand Blade Finish
Satin finish on the Northfield Brand has happened quite frequently as early as 2008 as you noted ...mainly on the #23 and #73 patterns but also on the #53/54 pattern........some of these are noted on the " Yearly Inventory " and others slip by...............most recently on the new 2012 #42 Trapper which is noted 1 in stag and actually there are two that passed thru a dealers hands....

glazed finish on northfields are not too uncommon. even my minkskinner abalone was not mirror polished. HiPower

I have a White Owl with satin finished blades and I like it better than my knives with polished blades. Seems more like a 'real' knife to me.

I much prefer the glazed finish as opposed to the polished. It looks more "authentic" to me and generally is better done.
