KaBar Olean, NY-Dogs Head

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

4" Congress - Who can date this knife? Some have said early 80's, another suggested 2010.
This is my first Congress knife. The bone handles are caramel colored and beautiful. My pic doesn't do it justice. On both Sheepsfoot tangs it says KaBar, Olean, NY.

I've heard it said on AAPK that Ka-Bars are extremely difficult to date. I know doesn't help you but... ::shrug::

From KaBar - re: this very beautiful knife.

This appears to be Item #DH87 or DH87G, which was a Collector’s Club knife produced in 1984. If there is a model number on one of the blades, I can provide additional information, such as how many were produced and the retail value in 1984.

Hi:

does anyone know if all of the club knives were numbered? i see the congress below that has a number stamped on one of the tangs. i also have a congress just like this with the dog's head shield, but it has no number etched on any of the blades.

thanks
