What Glue was Boker using!?

Remember the Glue you used when you were in kindergarten?....well 90% of the time I see a Boker at the Flea market the Shield is missing,makes me wonder if Boker was was using the same stuff!
Reminds me also of the Camillus knives with the Black Plastic handles that shrunk over time,I've seen them a third of their orig size

This one is well aged with lots of patina with what some call "split back springs"
I think I have 3-4 w/o the shield..now if I could only find a bag of THEM at the flea market!

Yeah Catt I have mentioned this over and over again.... And then they came out with the tangstamp series with TWO shields LMAO sorry but, well This guy that owns a swap meet that I frequent had bought one of the tangstamp series knives from my dad a few years ago. My dad is not selling knives right now but I set up most weekends and last summer this fella who runs the swap comes up to me with that Boker. I had known him for years really nice guy and a rancher who actually uses the knives he buys. Anyway, He hands me that big red jigged bone Congress with the 2 symmetrical holes in it set near the nice slanted bolsters and he didn't say a word. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry but I just stood there shaking my head and finally said " You know, as great as the Germans have been in the past right up to now at engineering,Architecture,metallurgy,Mechanics,Electronics etc. You would think that they could come up with some very top notch glue. Super even. Or you would think that they would eventually notice the glue is not so good and gather a few German Scientists together to work out a good and proud German solution to this glue problem." What's to stop them from pinning the shield in at this point? He said I know I didn't buy this from you but I thought that since you sell them and these do tend to fall out that you might have a couple or know where a couple might be found.... OH BOY If he only knew how hot of an item Boker had made these things. And his knife had the special shields and I'm thinking that they are not the common size shields. But he said he didn't care what was in the holes as long as there was something. So I took his knife and found a couple shields NOT BOKER per se but put them in with GOOD GLUE and made em look better and returned it to a smiling happy man. I mean a big ole nice German knife with two big holes in it on the front side is like... is like... is kinda like... ummm... Venus in the half shell with no hair on her head, Why? Because there's no thingies to hide with those locks of hair. Well Catt, Perhaps Boker has been incahoots with China for longer than we thought Point? Chinese glue no so good? Or it was just another one of Boker's scams going way back, possibly revolving around the Solingen name and imports? They should have started pinning the shields the 3rd time anyone called asking if they have any extra shields because their glue is NOT SUPER.... Just my opinion

All it would have taken is one Pin!,did they really save that much $$ not using one?
Bean counters at work I suppose.
The next day at a different market I found a knife that HAD a Shield,broken blade and the
other 2 chipped up bad.
The guy would not sell it for a Dollar so I walked on.

Yeah. Glue is not a strong point for knife makers. Just bought a Case fishing knife for fairly cheap because the hook sharpener is loose. Lots of people think that the sharpener pulls off to sharpen the knife so they yank on it. My gain. A bit of epoxy and we're good. it's a beautiful knife. Best part is they never tried to sharpen it.
