Does anyone know if derling handles was option in 1972. I do not see them in the case price guide.

Yes in fact the second Case knife I ever bought (in 1974) was an 8 dot 1972 6111-1/2L with delrin handles. At the time I did not even know what "delrin" was; or that the norm for these knives would be "bone" handles.

Delrin was used randomly on most patterns then so no price guides have documented all of them.

The book(Pfeiffer's) says, "During the 1970's delrin was substituted for bone on the 6111 1/2L on a random basis and both examples will be found;........etc".

That's one sweet delrin knife to have, like a USA stamped delrin -20 pattern.
