Can't see much of the tang stamp. Is it a XX ?

Hello Cato, Sargent list one in his 7th edition. No picture, he puts a 1/2 on the pattern number.
May or may not be marked on the knife as a 1/2, MO. Nice knife I would think it is right.
Sargent book price $250

Re: case 6235 harness jack ?
Hey Cato,
My 2 cents...
The knife is not a "1/2" pattern as it has a spear master blade. When no other blade was offered and a knife had a clip, the 1/2 designation was not used. This knife has a spear so that does not apply. Looks like a 35 or possibly a 620035 frame but might also be a 99 or 31 pattern. Not reference to length in the pic. What is the length closed?
Handles look like rough black in the pic, but hard to tell. Is that correct?
The punch in the front is interesting also as I believe most 35 patterns had the main blade in front. I have a 620035-1/2 with the secondary blade to the front of the knife, made on contract for CASE.
My guess is possibly a contract knife. No reference to this knife in any of my books based on what I see in the pics (questions I posed above) but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
Regards, Jerry

Re: case 6235 harness jack ?
I don't believe that this is a contract made knife, the rough black handles on Case knives are very distinctive and since they were apparently molded they are always identical. Also, not sure if the general rule about secondaries being on the back side of the knife from the Tested era on would apply to a punch.
Can't find a reference to a 6235 PU in Sargent only a 6235 1/2. Maybe knifeaholic has some idea.

Jerry is right on the 1/2 pattern number. The knife I referenced in Sargents 7th is on page224.
Although it is bone.

Re: case 6235 harness jack ? new pic
Hey msteeel6,
After looking at the newly added pics and considering your comments, I was off on my initial comments.
The contract knives had the black imitation jigged bone, best I know, not rough black. With the right angled punch, the right angle would catch on the mainblade if it were mounted on the rear of the knife. I do believe however that on the 35 frame, most of the secondary blades were to the rear with some exceptions.
Interesting knife posted. Hope to hear more comments on it.

Jerry,
Yeah, take a look at all of your rough black Case knives and you can see that the handles are identical or nearly so. The most obvious point of similarity is the way the two wormgrooves go diagonally across the handles, very similar to the way Robeson did their genuine bone handles.
