Schrade 77OT Question

I'm looking for a USA 77OT and I notice some come in a brown box and some in a white/black box. I'm not interested in the box at all, but is one of these knives considered better or more desireable? Thanks.

The brown box is the USA made Schrade.
The ones made in China are a sort of dark grey, lighter grey & tan.
The old black & cream color are USA.
If in doubt ask the seller where it is made, or ask to see the tang stamp.

Thanks, Dale. I'm wondering if there is a point on a timeline when one box replaced the other; if older knives are in one type of box and newer USA knives in the other box, and if the older knives are more well-made than the newer knives. Both seem to be bringing about the same prices. You're calling the cream/black one the "old" box, and it seems to be a more old-fashoned graphic design. Can I assume those are older knives?

The wood grain boxes are the older ones. I am not sure about all the time line for the boxes. As far as I know, the quality didn't change from 1973 through 2004, though I am told there were some "running" changes, where some knives were switched to stainless steel from carbon steel.
I think the boxes were changed the same way. In other words, if they had a box change for the knives in (as an example) 1995 for the Old Timer line, most might be switched, but you might get the older boxes for a few years if the pattern was a slow seller & they had a lot in inventory.

A sure thing about Schrade is that they made good knives, but weren't big on documenting the changes or changing everything at once. It only makes sense to use up the old boxes you have before starting on the new ones. I hope that made sense..........almost my bed time.
