Prayers for surgery Monday

There are times in each of our lives that rain falls, hard times come and it helps to reach out to our friends and to our God for a little support. This is the place to express those needs, concerns and situations so others in the AAPK family can keep you in their prayers.

Prayers for surgery Monday

Post by orvet »

Well, after putting it off as long as I can, the time has finally come to have my left knee replaced with a prosthetic joint.
I have had joint replacements before; my left wrist joint was replaced 3 times.
The first two broke and the third one didn't work right, so I had my wrist fused.
I am anticipating much better success with the knee. Joint technology has come a long way in the last 30 years.

I am going to the hospital Monday morning sometime. I will find out the precise time on Friday.
I will probably in the hospital for 2 or 3 days and then back home.

I don’t expect any problems or complications, but the other medical conditions I have, Sjogren’s syndrome, can play havoc with my joints (the reason for the replacement) and can also mess with the healing process.

I probably won’t be on the forum for a few weeks; I don’t have a laptop so I probably won’t be back on line until the swelling goes down enough for me to set at my desk. My wife has a Kindle Fire, and if I can talk her out of it and figure how to get on line with the Kindle, I will try to pop in and say “Howdy” once in a while.

I will try and give Phil or someone a call and let him know how the surgery went and so he can post it on AAPK.
The cool thing about AAPK is that we are more like a family then most forums and we tend to worry about each other when we notice someone has been gone for a while. You guys are AWESOME!!! ::tu::

As I said, I don’t anticipate any problems, but I truly believe that no matter how many wonderful things the docs may do, real healing only healing comes from our Heavenly Father, not from the doctors. Jesus the Great Physician created us and he is the one who can give us real healing. So I would appreciate all of your prayers for a healing and a quick recovery.

Thank you and God bless you all,
Dale

Dale,

Indeed prayers are being sent out to you and I wish you well, not only from a medical standpoint but also for your emotional health as well.

Please keep us informed .... maybe your wife can log on and let us know an update to your condition and ongoing recovery & rehab.

You are right, joint replacement has come a zillion miles in the last 3 decades. My Mom just had knee replacement surgery .... due to her age ( 83 ) she was in rehab at the hospital for 8 days ...... she is doing great now and jokes if I ws there we would have races with our walkers.

God Bless

Dale, we will certainly remember you in our prayers as you go through this procedure and recovery time. Joy and I value our short time with you last summer as you traveled through our neck of the woods. Treefarmer

Thanks guys!
It is comforting to know that there are so many friends here on AAPK praying for my recovery.

It is even more comforting to know the Creator of all that exists is listening to your prayers and will answer them.
I believe this with all my heart!
He has also given His promise that we will have tough times, but that he will be with us in those times:

"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters I will be with you; and through the rivers,
they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you."
-Isa 43: 1b-2

Thank you for your many prayers.
May God richly bless you and your families,
Dale

Dale called me a few minutes ago to let me know he'd come through his surgery just fine. I missed his call, but he left me a voice mail. He actually sounded pretty good, especially considering what he's been through.

He's expecting a bit more pain tomorrow after the heavy drugs wear off. Keep him in your prayers please.
