The times I have asked you to 'hold' something is because your site does not offer check out via Check/Money Order as pmt.
You know I prefer to pay via Money Order and it actually saves you the CC fee and saves you from including me in your 'Rebate Program'.........you make 3-8% more on my orders when paid via Check/Money Order, glad you brought it up.

imband i empatize with yourself & i also have spent close to 30,000 on gec. one of the problems the distributors have experienced is being informed by the gec factory that 15 knives [example] would be shipped to a distributor but gec would only send maybe 8 knives in a certain handle--pattern release. the fact that the distributor was shorted from the number he was promised puts the distributor in an ackward situation.---HiPower

NICE Knives Trand, ::tu:: ::tu::

Some #'s from this site regarding GEC Collecting as reflected on AAPK.......

If you look at the 'Mail Call, Post Your New GEC's' thread you will find that it is 2 years old today.

From 4/15/2011 to 4/15/2012 there were 1367 posts.
From 4/15/2012 to 4/15/2013 there were 722 posts.

Seems like the 'new GEC' activity has dropped on AAPK by almost 50%. Is what it is.

This pocket knife addiction is new to me and I just joined the forum. I bought my first GEC after a long time of having nothing but a single Case to carry until I either lost it or it needed replacement. In fact, when I went looking for a replacement for a Case I recently lost I purchased another Case. After reading the forum and the reviews of members here I decided I had to have a GEC. So the opinions and thoughts of those here definitely influenced my decision to buy GEC. I must say I have not been disappointed. It's a great knife with excellent craftsmanship. My first GEC will not be my last. I like it better than any Case I have ever owned. For a new guy like me the opinions of those on this forum will have some impact. These knives are not inexpensive so I would think that GEC would be somewhat concerned that serious collectors are expressing some displeasure in some regard (availability, dealings with reps, production schedules, etc.) While I understand that collectors are a small share of the knife market, the collectors do have a major influence on these forums in terms of keeping the GEC name out front and in good favor. Checking out their own website and forum reveals there is little to no activity. I sincerely hope this is just a case of collector saturation and not a loss of interest in the product they make. Some of you guys are very serious collectors and I can understand you would be frustrated at not being able to get what you want after spending a lot of money over the years. Since I am new and at this point nothing more than a "I like pocket knives and want a few" buyer, GEC still has a lot to offer and keep me satisfied. I do think think they should pay attention to the drop off in interest here as a leading indicator and I think they probably are paying attention. I hope so anyway.

Well said Dave. And you are correct on quality, I firmly believe that GEC is building the finest quality production folders available today. However, as you stated......quality is only one factor of many, a large factor, but only one.

I agree, Dave - well stated.

Just a thought to using "Post your new GEC" as a way to measure interest. When I get a new knife, it usually gets posted either under Knife Photography or a more specific heading (Sunfish, whittler, wood handles,etc). The New GEC thread is so busy I fear my post getting buried in the traffic and avoid it altogether. While it may be the single most effective thread to gauge GEC interest, it is not the only thread used.
That being said, my GEC collecting HAS slowed down over the last few years. They are very prolific with maybe 6 variations of a new model every few weeks. I can't afford one of every new knife produced, not even every tenth new knife model. I find myself keeping a close eye on what is being offered and waiting for something special (to me). Lately that has been the Champlins made by GEC, and I have been selling off some of my collection to justify the new acquisitions.
A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.
