CASE XX 620035-1/2 Long Pull

So I have this CASE XX 620035-1/2 Long Pull. My understanding is that it was a contract knife an a cheaper alternative to the regular 35 frame with thinner blade and backspring stock, no shield. Made with "Imitation Jigged Bone" handles.

Stamp is not perfect, but that does not concern me. Contract knife and even non contract knive's stamps were not always perfect.

Question though, the "Imitation Jigged Bone" handles exhibit some either MINOR shrinkage or poor fit, consistent top and bottom, left and right on both handles. Closed length is 3-3/8". This knife looks identical to Steve's book, page 146, in my opinion, so not really concerned about authenticity. Just wondering about the handles as I mentioned. Did the "Imitation Jigged Bone" handles shrink? No pin crack to report.

I think a small amount of shrinkage (like on the knife pictured) isn't unusual considering the material and age.

Thanks Bob! I have a couple other knives with this material too, I have to dig those out and look. Was not sure what to expect.

Stamps on the 0035 patterns always look like that. The blades on those were tumble polished. And the handle shrinkage is normal. I do not know what material that was, but it was some plastic other than delrin.

In fact, even on regular Case knives, the yellow and white composition handles (not the black or jigged brown) will show shrinkage even on knives made into the early 70's. Leads me to believe that the yellow and white were not delrin but were some other material until the mid 70's.
