hello, i just got this 88 and i am wanting to know if this is red bone, what jigging pattern it is and witch is harder to find the xx to usa or usa to xx

?

The 88 is my favorite Case pattern. Your congress has a hint of red in the bone, but it is not red bone. The value of the XX-USA is the same as the USA-XX.

Hey Stockman,

Here is what I know when I posted this question before. From Bob, aka Robinten...

For instance , if the master blade is stamped CASE XX USA and the secondary blade is stamped CASE XX , the knife would be a USA - XX transition and if the master is stamped CASE XX and the secondary is marked CASE XX USA ,it would be an XX - USA transition , etc.

I agree wishful, looks like one of Lonnie's ("thingsforsell") knives and backgrounds. His number was in my Dad's phone book and not many people made it there. Good guy.

As far as bone color, I agree with the others and say it is classic USA and 10 dot "Pretty Bone", not red bone in my opinion. Nice knife! The bone color on that timeframe, at least the ones I seen and I own, is similar to that knife. Almost a light orange accent to the handles. I really love that color bone! Beautiful knife!
Everyone's opinion varies on this subject as it is subjective. At least from my perspective, solid red color from bolster to bolster on both sides of the knive. Both sides don't have to have exact same color of red (always nice if you get one like that though), but have to be red. Just my opinion but reddish does not make it a red bone. Here is my opinion of what CASE red bone looks like. One bright red and one darker red. Bottom knife is much redder in hand than the pic...

howdy ilikeknives, i was thinking rogers bone too but i am no expert on jigging patterns put it's not like any other jigging pattern i have seen on other knives from this time frame and i have looked at every example i could find. thanks everyone for your help
