Do we have any Camillus people aboard?
What can you tell me about this one? American made? Worth more than a buck?

pretty common knife, picked up 3 this morning as donor knives. I usually get mint ones for under $15 not real expensive, but great users.

Thanks guys.
I wasn't sure if it was a USA made Camillus or not. Not even sure if Camillus made knives that WEREN'T made in the USA. Picked it up off flea bay for $10. Thought it looked like a good user knife and not much of a loss if it wasn't. If it's anything comparible to the Camillus made Remingtons, I'm sure I'll be satisfied.

Hmmmmm..........
I wouldn't have the slightest clue how to go about such a thing and certainly have no intentions of trying....but, would I be correct in assuming that the hinge pin would have to be driven out, the unwanted blade removed and some "shims" inserted on each side of the remaining blade to keep it centered in the liners?edgy46 wrote:a good price indeed.a quality knife.can be reworked into a great single blade.great first project.it (imho)
Good Lord....I just had a visual of what it'd look like afterwards if I did the work myself!

Dewman,
It is a great knife. I carried one issued by the Marine Corps all through my hitch in the USMC, including Vietnam. I still have the knife & it is still a great user. Their carbon steel takes a fantastic edge.
If you want to make a project of it, don't try to drive the pins out, cut them. I think there is a tutorial about knife rebuilding. If not I can put one together.
Here is a pic of one I made from that same knife. I made it a single blade Barlow, with stag handles.

It is not a difficult conversation, compared to some knives.dewman wrote:....you mean to tell me ALL THOSE were two blade electricians knives to begin with....and were converted to single blade knives? I'm very impressed, indeed!
This weekend I am helping my grandson make one. I hope to post a pic or two when he is done. I have another grandson staying here this week & he wants to do one also.

Orvet....
....sequence photos would be most appreciated. As in, step by step of the process. This has really piqued my interest for sure. Thanks for the input on my original question guys. I appreciate all the education I'm receiving here.
