Mcusta
Just picked up my first Mcusta this past week and I must say I am very impressed with the quality of this knife.
I was just reading another post on this board about not making them like they use to, with a few exceptions. I think you can add this one to the exceptions list. I know.....I know.... the Mcusta is made in Japan. No such thing any more, like just competing against American knife makers, the world has gotten too small.
If you own a Mcusta, whats your opinion. good...bad...or indifferent.

I have been eyeballing the Mcusta knives for a while but have yet to even hold one. I have heard from a couple of places that they are of excellent quality. I might have to check one out next time I head to AG Russell.
I am glad to hear that you confirmed what I have heard about them.

I have heard it pronounced Ma-Coo-Sta.
Another good place to look is http://japaneseknifedirect.com They have Mcusta, Seki, Hattori, Kanetsune and a lot of others that I couldn't pronounce to save my life.

mcusta;
hey rod;
i have a yoroi,i think that its a great knife for the size,
vg-10 core layered 33 times damascas,made of nickel
as we all know or should know,nickel will not rust,and needs very little
maintenance,like some other well known knives,as far as an edge
coming from the manufacture, i would put it up against any and all the other knives.

...CCBill...
I have to agree with Bill. I don't have one, so my comments would be worthless (not like that has stopped me before)

Please don't take the lack of response on our part as a lack of interest. You asked the opinion of people who owned a Mcusta. So far only one person has commented who has one. The rest of us are sort of in the dark.

But, Please share with us about them. I have a number of high end knives from Saki City that are some of the finest production knives I own, especially my early Al Mar's (pre-1993). Near custom quality, at a high end production price.
