Looking for a new EDC

OK, so I'm tired of wearing out a buck odessy or vantage every couple years. I'm in the market for something a bit more durable. I have a few requirements, blade around 4" (3 1/2" is fine) handle around 4.5" would be nice, and I would like it to be a flipper. No autos or assisteds, most won't agree with the environment that I introduce them into (sand, dirt, water, pond muck, etc etc). I like the look of the spyderco tenacious does anyone make something like that in a flipper (if it was a flipper i'd already have on on the way, may buy one anyway)? This knife will get used hard daily. I was carrying a protech TR-4 which was a beast and built like a tank only downside is it doesn't conform to state laws so I had to discontinue it's use. As most of you guys know I'm mainly a traditionalist (ie: don't follow the latest in modern folders. i just buy one I like and is affordable and use it till its worn out and buy another) but in all honesty a modern "tactical" knife get's way more everyday use though I always have one of each on my person. Prefer to keep the budget at or (even better) below $100 since at some point it may become "misplaced". Throwing a cast net last year the net hooked the clip on a buck vantage and slung it into the middle of a lake, I always tuck clip knives inside my waistband when throwing a net now. I didn't lose the knife, I know right where it's at......I just can't get to it.......................

Excellent knife. I dont know how you could beat the value.
It opens one handed so easily, that it may as well be a flipper.
The 8cr13mov held a very sharp edge for a very long time.

Benchmade 300 Axis Flipper. Slightly higher than you want to pay, but it's a great knife. ftd

Take a look at the SOG Vulcan or Mini Vulcan. I've carried a Mini Vulcan for a couple of years or more and it's proven quite durable, although I doubt I've given it the workout you'd give one. It has a flipper and utlilzes the arc lock system. The blade is VG-10 steel.

I just swapped my Tenacious back into rotation last weekend and its a great knife, but it seems like its gotten harder to open after sitting in the box for the last three months. Adjusting it only helped a little too.

Or maybe my Kershaw just got me spoiled with its buttery smoothness. All my Kershaws are slick openers.

Jason Brous is coming out with a new, affordable flipper for $100.00 with D2 steel. His knives are well constructed and built to last. I have a Reloader flipper on order and should be getting that soon.

Would you choose Tenacious over the similarly priced Kershaw Cryo?

The tenacious is a quality knife, as is the kershaw cryo, but I'm sticking with the Benchmade 710 or the SOG Flash II... love those knives.
