recient purchase
I am new to collecting camillus knives, and I wonder if their is any way to tell the age of an old camillus pen two blade? It is what you call a four line tang marking. Is it before 1946?
I would appreciate any help. thanks jfourez

Except the four-line stamp goes back earlier than 1941.

Not sure about that 1941 date either. Most of the WWII era knives have the four-line stamp, so I would say that the 1946 is probably OK.....So 1919-1946. According to Goins, if all blades have the four-line stamp the range is 1919-1941 and if only marked on one blade, 1941-1946. Never noticed that before, nice piece of information if it's factual.

....just noticed that myself, t. j., figuring out these tang stamp dates would take a philidelphia lawyer to do it!!!!...............tjmurphy wrote:Not sure about that 1941 date either. I would say, based on Goins, that yours is pre-1946.
When do we get a picture
