Chief Anderson
Chief Anderson
There was a series of Cripple Creeks knives referred to as "Chief Anderson" knives. Can anyone tell me about this series?........ Patterns? Stag, bone, pearl, etc.? How many of each pattern?
Re: Chief Anderson
Chief Anderson were made for Frank Phelps.Early ones were in limited # 10 to 20 in stag.
The small knives were made in stag, the larger ones were made with celluloid.
With more than one knife in a set the scales would be mixed with stag, colored bone and or
celluloid.
The main blade is etched with a picture of Chief Anderson ,early ones with # made.Later ones
the # made was dropped ,cut cost .
Being made in such a limited # there getting harder to find.
Patterns : 1 and 2 bld. small stockman with stag, large 1 bld. coke bottle ,small toothpicks

I have three different ones. A 1 blade stag trapper, 1 blade stag stockman, and a 1 blade smooth white bone swell center. Been collecting Cripple Creeks for a long time absolutely love them.

I found this article in the 1986 edition of Smoke Signals. It doesn't give types of knives made but a little interesting tid bit about the chief Anderson series.

Re: Chief Anderson
Yes probably I found out my brother has a couple of them as well going to try to get them all together before I sell. If I can find all or most of them thinking about building a display case for them before I sell. Got some other cripple creeks I’ll be adding to my store here soon.
