Western Knife Co. Set by Camillus and others !!!!!
Just got this fixed blade set___Western Knife,made by Camillus a few years before they closed (not sure of mfg.year ??? )__9 inch & 7 inch__wood handles ,stainless blades (maybe 420HC ??)__any info appreciated,__________thanks ,Monk

I looked in my notes on the com and found out that, around that time there where using 420HC on there other production knives but I don't have any info on that set,but it is a safe bet that you are right.

As far as I could tell sharpening and using them, they perform like the 420HC Camillus was using. Funny thing is--as much as I dislike 420HC--it was a better steel than what Western was using on their stainless blades. Not sure if that was an effect of heat-treatment, or if Western actually used a different alloy, but I harbor the suspicion that they were using 440A. It sure performs like that.

Picked these up today_for some reason,I have caught the ""FIXED BLADE VIRUS"" !!!!!!!!!!
__got some pretty good prices on them all ???? I guess
_____ anyway,I have always liked the Schrade Sharpfinger design,but never owned one_
