Thanks Charlie, seems I vaguely remember something about that too( in Levines guide). I`m going to get a little more reading done this weekend and see if I can locate it. I appreciate your input greatly!

The Press Button on the right is stamped " Walden Knife Co. NY" I believe it is one of the very first ones made. Not sure if they had not decided on the "Press Button Knife Co." name or just didn't have a stamp ready. The knife on the left is also extremely rare as it has a sabre grind blade where most usually had a clip blade or a spear blade. It does not have a tang stamp on the front tang only U.S Pat. 470,605 on the back tang. Not sure if it 's worn away or just never was stamped. Usually these have a pretty deep stamp so it would take a lot wear.

Here is a very rare old Walden knife. It has Stainless steel blades & back spring.

The tangs are not stamped, rather the blade face is acid etched "Walden", I could not get it to show in a picture, it is very faint, but it looks similar to the etch Mike posted on page 2 of this thread.

This is the only Walden knife I have ever seen with stainless blades, does anyone else have one? If so I would like to see it

Is that a bone handle on that ole knife? Amazing to find stainless on one of these ole critters. Hate to see that listing for the sale of the company.....we`ve lost way too many great knife companies in this country. Luckily, there are collectors like us out there who scarf up many knives and as much knife history as we can find and as we can afford to pass down the next generation. Thats a dandy knife Miller....thanks for showing...

Not sure how old it is but would like any helpful information on it, it says it was made by the walden knife company in New York. My dad lived in Florida for awhile and picked it up at a yard sale in the early nineties and thought looked interesting and old I honestly was just doing research on the manufacturers name on the blade trying to at least find out something about it and came across this forum and you might be able to give me a hand on figuring out how old this knife really is.

The tang stamp really doesn't look old. Can you show a picture of the whole knife?

I think it is a variation of the Schrade Sharpfinger, but I am not familiar with that stamp on a fairly recent knife?

Yes I know it is a sharp finger but the sharp finger has actually been around since the early thirties and was made by a New York Knife Co. In that closed around the the beginning to middle of world war 2 that was where I was having problems finding information because it wasn't until recently that a company called Scharde started remaking the old schrade sharp fingers but that is all the info I could find but schrade was made by the New York knife co. and then made knives for a few years after that company closed.

Well I have found out how old it is and what it is, it is a USA Schrade /NY Knife Co marked Sharpfinger Stag Bone FS it a rare variant of the Schrade sharp finger and also it is listed as a New York knife co. schrade sharp finger prototype. And that the New York knife company did not go out of business but in stead was bought out by Schrade and later closed down several years ago. Here is on just like mine that was released from schrade's vault and sold not that long ago.

A Walden Knife Co. Barlow with sawcut bone and a 4-1/4" toothpick with red/gold/black glitter celluloid. All blades are marked Walden Knife Co. - Made in U.S.A.

I received this one today.
It is stamped WALDEN KNIFE CO NY on both blades.
4 1/4" Closed. Equal end. Sabre Grind.
Anybody know what they called this pattern?

Unfortunately the main spring has a stress crack in the center of it.

I heard today is the anniversary of George Schrades death ? Here`s one for the ole boy
