Kingston Melon Knife??

I found this Kingston yesterday at an estate sale. The home was crammed with antiques and collectibles. In one particular room, a full wall was shelved from ceiling to floor and held items which were handled in ivory, bone, or celluloid. That's where this knife was located. The tang is stamped, " Kingston Stainless, U.S.A.. The handles are a lemon yellow celluloid. It measures 5 7/8 inches closed, and a full 10.5 inches fully open. It snaps open very well, but at some time in it's life someone has put a lot of presure on the handle and put a very slight curve into it. You need to nudge it slightly over with your thumb to completly close it. It has " Conrad - Western Laboratories " etched into the handles. I typed it into my computer but nothing solid came up. I also picked up a corn or callus knife lying on the same shelf as this was. Bull

I have noticed in long thin knives that some have a slight curve to them.I always thought it may have been due to a slight misalignment of the end rivets when being assembled that caused this.Don't recall ever seeing a Kingston melon tester;nice score.

Bull, Goins has this mark listed as used by Dwight Devine/Ulster from 1915-1958. It's a melon tester and of course the handle etching is advertising. Slim

Thanks fellas for the information. K7K, that could be the reason on the knife not closing cleanly. I'm not going to try to bow the handles back though. Sure as heck I'd snap those handles, then I 'd have nothing! Thanks again, Bull
