Well I to NOW feel I may have stepped past my boundaries to far.
Here is what I did.
I showed Daddy's Girl a knife (Now that was not bad).
But when I ADDED Bryans Store here at AAPK I see now others may fell like giving me a big KICK you all know where. Because I did not help them sell one of theirs. (here at AAPK and members that sell knives)
Lets say I just got soo excited in helping some one (a GIRL that does not happen to me very often) that I for got about others here. Yes I think it would have been BEST to let her pick what she wanted and then She could ASK USE our options. We all just love to give them out FREE even if not asked.
Well I will live and still learning but if any one feels I need a big kick PM me I will try to work things out with you. No one has yet it's just a feeling I have after rereading this post.

I don't think anyone would be upset with you for referring someone to Bryan. With everything he does for us, I think we all owe him.

No one is upset with you Ken. We're all pretty good buddies here, and most of us have referred folks to Bryan because he is a good dude.
Now, let's see if our newest lady member here at AAPK, finds a knife for her father.

What's this about redheads??
I'm Auburn
I found cumberland through google
before I got here as a matter of fact lol
I'm looking at this knife over there. What can you tell me about it? I don't understand a thing in the details! lol
and thank you for the ebay link I'm watching it so no one go bidding on it!!
Are bulldogs good knives in general?
I think I've fallen in love with this one it just looks "warm" but it also looks like I could have picked it up at a garage sale lol which I certainly don't want my dad thinking.

Perhaps this is where we can develope a list of what each AAPK store carries as far as brands go.
Also a list for all AAPK members who have websites and brands that they carry. I don't know if store members pay a fee on knives sold. If so, then website owners should pay a finders fee to be listed.
Then offer ebay links for a specific knife if that is needed.
Also for those that buy a knife as a gift every few years, a description of the common designs such as congress, trapper, and stockman, etc. Include a black and white outline of each design.
Just to the left of FAQ looks like a place for a knife list. I think that just makes it easier for all.
I can't think of a member that I would not trust with a knife deal on this site currently. I know that each store or website will change inventory.

I can say that the older Bulldog knives such as that one on ebay are excellent. There are some that I would stay away from, but that one is one that they still copy as of 2004 and will again. BKC 277, 1 of 288, released in 1984 and made in Solingen, Germany. It may reach $100.00 as only 288 were made.Daddy'sGirl wrote:What's this about redheads??I'm Auburn

My wallet just cant take another hit like that.
But i must say, looking at all the schatt's these guys post here, it getting harder and harder not to.

I've got one of those. It's a gorgeous knife and I'm sure your dad would love it. Mine's a display queen but I'm sure it would make a great user. It's also a great size for the pocket.Daddy'sGirl wrote:I found cumberland through googlebefore I got here as a matter of fact lol

To translate some of the knife shorthand in the description for you, 420 HC (high carbon) is the blade steel. It's a very common and very servicable stainless steel used in blades. 56/57 Rockwell C-Scale is the steel hardness. That's a good hardness for 420HC. From a practical standpoint what this all means is that this knife would be very easy to sharpen, will take a nice edge, but will not hold an edge for a very long time. It will also be very resistant to rust. Bottom line it is very satisfactory blade steel for general purposes.

That Schatt & Morgan would be an excellent choice. And the fellow at Cumberland (Mint Set Man here @ AAPK) is very well respected, IMO.

LOL Guess I spend too much time on message boards. The Blue is just how the site colors text that is linked. You just put [*url=www.coolsite.com/link]your text[*/url] (minus the *) this allows any text to be linked and keeps you from having unsightly long linksjustold52 wrote:![]()

Thank you so much gentlemen! I think I'll keep an eye on that Bulldog and if it goes to far out of my budget I'll get the S&M.
I still really like that military knife He doesn't mention stamps or anything so is it just a guess on age? What would it cost to have that "re-furbished" (assuming that can be done without losing it's character)? I like old and unusual

Hi daddys girl. That's a nice looking knife and I'm sure your dad would love it. The S&M' s are great looking as well. There are several here on the forum who restore knives. Muskratman and Ag teacher are the 2 that come to my mind the quickest. They both do very fine work as I'm sure others here do as well. Best of luck with your endeavor, Kelley
