Re: What's Wrong With This Picture ?
I have nothing else to do so I'll play.
Is it that they want $145 for it?
I know hardly anything about Scout knives but I'm going to guess anyway. My serious answer is, to me it looks like an Imperial blade in an Ulster knife. The only Imperial scouts with that phillips screwdriver blade I've seen, have a round Scout emblem.

Really.
I don't mind being wrong as long as I can get close.

I thought that only five blade with a phillips was the 10th Mountain Div. by Ulster.

It should have a round shield vs. the First Class shield?

WE HAVE A WINNER!bestgear wrote:It should have a round shield vs. the First Class shield?
The blade arrangement is correct, the handle material is appropriate but the shield is wrong. Imperial did use that shield on a couple of five bladed scouts (wood handled and faux mother of pearl), but they used the round shield on the delrin handled ones. I'd bet (if I were a betting man) that if you removed that shield, you'd find a round hole beneath it.

Re: What's Wrong With This Picture ?
Not if it's really an Ulster. Compare it to this junker, which is real. The difference here (besides the broken stuff) is the shield and the tang stamp.
Edit: I see I was typing while someone came up with the answer. Since Imperial and Ulster were possibly made in the same factory, I'm going to leave this up for comparison.

Why on earth would someone want to alter an imperial knife?

Re: What's Wrong With This Picture ?
I've seen several "incorrect" Boy Scout knives sell for fairly substantial money on ebay. ($100 and up........sometimes way up) so there is a profit motive for cobbling up something you can market to the unknowing and unsuspecting as being rare and thus valueable.Meinblackshear wrote:Why on earth would someone want to alter an imperial knife?

Re: What's Wrong With This Picture ?
I say the knife is all original and has not been messed with.
This shield was used on this pattern knife, except with wood and simulated pearl handles, it is not out of the question that they would use the same shield on the simulated jigged bone version as well.
