Buck 317 Trailblazer type with a single blade?

Hoyt Buck produced the first Buck Knife in 1902. Hoyt and his son Al moved to San Diego and set up shop as H.H. Buck & Son in 1947. Al Buck revolutionized the knife industry in 1964 with the infamous Model 110 Folding Hunter. The company's innovative history and attention to quality have made for many great collectible knives.

Buck 317 Trailblazer type with a single blade?

A friend of mine who just acquired a nice 317 is looking for info on what he says is the same style only with one blade instead of two.
I have looked all over this forum and the web but haven't had any luck. Is my friend just "Up in the Night"?

I don't know diddly squat about Bucks but I can welcome you to AAPK. Glad to have you aboard.

There are some Buck guys here who probably know the answer to your question. Have patience.

I have not seen a Buck,with the single blade in that pattern __ Case makes a ""TWIN"" of the Buck 317 & has a single blade model___the Buck 110 single blade,sorta took over as the number one single blade,as Buck Company grew **

Hoyt Buck made the first Buck folding knife (Model 117) in 1946 ( very rare ***)___actually he just made the blades and put them into handles from war surplus lifeboat knives ___ In 1963 the 117 was redesigned to make the model 110__which made the company into ,what we know today ***

Your friend could have a the secondary blade removed or just but a Case 6165

Thank you gentlemen for the welcome and the info. Now I gotta call my friend and tell him what I have found out so far.

Well, Most of what I will say has already been said.

1. Have never seen or heard of a BUCK 317 single blade in my travels on this earth.

2. If you showed me one I would say that someone removed one blade and skillfully put it back together.

3. There are several knives both Case and Camillus that could have single blades. Remember Camillus actually made the 317 for Buck. If it is really, really new and has no box then be aware it could have been a Camillus factory knife parts sale knife. There were several made after the facts. Some 334 jumbo trappers,315s and 307s were made up by former employees, other companies employees and knife poeple and sold on the Bay. That could have been done with extra 317 parts bought at the auction.

Can you tell I am skeptical.
