Is that a joke, how could you know that? The Remington was purchased at an authorized Remington year knife dealer - Fultons Hardware in Ripley, Ohio (now out of business) and the Winchester was purchased at the Blue Grass Cutlery from the owner of that company in Manchester, Ohio. I do know that for a fact.

My Remington book (Stewart and Ritchie) shows the 1988 R4466 reproduction in delrin.

Did they, Blue Grass Cutlery Co., really make the knife or was it really imported or sub-contracted out to some other company? I would like to know for sure, any one know?

I use the word "reproduction", as I think these knives are really deceiving, Winchester no longer makes any pocket knives, yet the tang is stamped as such and they are sold as "Winchesters", not even close to the originals in my book.

Here we go again on the Blue Grass Winchesters . The Winchester knives of the 1980's and 1990's were made for Blue Grass by Queen . A friend and partner of mine was part owner of Blue Grass at that time and he spent much of his time at Queen during that time overseeing the quality control of their production (the same man spent much of his time at Queen during the early stages of Case Classic production for Blue Grass) .

The Remington in question should have a sterling silver shield since it has a bone handle , however , the bone just doesn't look right compared to all of the others that I have seen . There should also be a Remington tang stamp on the visible side of the large spay blade .

P.S. Bluegrass is licensed to use the Winchester logo and they are clearly marked with the year date to differentiate them from the originals .

I have never seen Blue Grass stamped on any Winchester , John Primble , or Case Classic knives , only the year date on Winchester and Primble (always on the back of the tang).

That's a very nice example of the delrin handled version . I just wish that I still had one of the "silver bullet" bone handled examples to post . Maybe someone will post one soon .

Hello all They used really nice jigged bone on this knife... Ha! I'm glad I stumbled onto this thread because I was about to put this on ebay before I removed it from my AAPK store. I can't remember the price I have on it but obviously it was too much Big o Hunka Knife

Would like to pursue this a little further: MB may have good cause for some doubt on that Remington.

On the Winchester: Blue Grass assembled for Queen at one time, but my Winchester was purchased by my friend at the Blue Grass factory and was at least assembled there. Its authenic. Blue Grass only makes Winchester and John Primble at this time. I just got off the phone with them.

As for the Remington: I called my friend and he seems to remember buying that knife without a box out of the Hardware's knife case. It may have been a trade in or for whatever reason. It is not stamped 1988, I got that out of my book that says the R4466 Muskrat was a 1988 year knife. The handle on my knife is almost for certain bone, does not look delrin at all. So, for those of you who know: do all the Remington year knives have the year stamped on them? I have 3 others and they do have the year stamped on them, but do they all? What are some other thoughts about the Remington.

Price and Zalesky list the R4466 as "Baby" Bullet Muskrat with genuine stag handles. The handles on your knife certainly appear to be bone.

To the best of my knowledge the 1982 Remington reproduction series up to this year "all" have the year stamped on the back of the main blade as well as the model number.Their are Remington knives outside of the reproduction series that do not have the year but only the model number stamped on the back of the main blade. The older remington knives may not have either on the back but may have a variety of tang stamps, I refer to our ref. books.The origional knives can be difficult to collect. Rocky

I can't help what the representative at Blue Grass told you about this knife , but it was manufactured in it's entirety at the Queen factory ! You don't have any reason to believe me , but maybe you should go visit their "factory" and observe their production line . This does not mean that your knife is not authentic , only that it was manufactured by one of the best knife makers in the world .

all the black box [started in 1988] wincesters & the later white box winchesters i've seen had the original winchester pattern # as well as the date stamped on the tang. my most recent moose- muskrat brown bone win. is stamped 1994. i understand bluegrass bought the trademark & original pattern types from winchester & queen produced the knives --exact copies of the old wins.--controversy will probably follow--HiPower

They actually started in 1987 (see example listed in Sander's Knives AAPK store noted below) , otherwise , you are right on with your assessment .
