DUMMY OF THE WEEK QUESTION ????????????????????? What will square tang,make a difference in the knife ???? Do the other #56's have a round tang ????________I don't really know

Square tangs give the blade "half-stops". The original 56's had round tangs and therfore no half-stop.

Can someone shed some light on the value added with half-stops?

Or is it just a matter of preference …. ?

Half-stops are simply a matter of preference. They also have some moderate value as a safety feature (they don't close all the way without stopping at the half way point, so the blade can't close on your finger).

Though safer, which I like. I've found square tangs wear out faster creating that dead spring action and causes the blade when fully open to kick back towards the backspring. It seems like wobble follows that. Of course I've never used and wore out a knife to that point, Only got them in knife buys. Ebay will learn ya quick to look for that kicked back or overly opened look (lack of better words) usually on the primary blade. Can anyone elaborate on this?

Yeah, that Wharncliffe is what twangs my magic twanger froggy. Now if they mate that with a pen blade further on down the road, I may just have to grab one no matter what the handles turn out to be.

Sounds like you want a reverse half whitt? Ill have to leave those all for you, pen blades are my least favorite. Never been a fan but could see a small clip being a nice addition down the road

Or a #68 White Owl with a Wharncliffe main instead of a spear.

Actually what I want them to do is extend the #33 frame by a quarter inch to 3-5/8" closed and add a coping blade beside the main blade.
