Here are a coupla pre-1960 Schrade Walden trappers. The new contemporary trappers are kinda boring, but very functional useful knives. I think these old ones are kinda purdy.

Re: My latest Schrade
Nice to see so many Schradies moving around
finding new homes where they're appreciated.
Some real beutes posted last several pages, wow.
Buddy in WV found this 144UH while cleaning out
a trunk in the attic.
For some reason he decided I needed it.
First I had heard of them. Orvets UH page
informed me they were fairly short run '79-82.
Found 3-4 listed in the 'Bay. One didn't
have the 'schrade+' on tang between
the cursive Uncle Henry and USA 144.
Weird, huh?
No '79 brochure on the Schrades_R_Us site so unable
to tell if 2 line tang was first year only characteristic.
This one just needed basic cleanup, w/sheath-no box.

Nice one Wosey!
The 14 is one of mt favorite Schrade fixed blade patterns, though they made a lot of exceptional fixed blades.

Great lookin' knife Wosey...
I picked this old beauty up for under 10 bucks...That old bone was just speaking to me and I had to give it a good home! I know she's "well used" to say the least, but it is a Cut Co...and she does still have a solid half stop and good snap both ways with no wobble....and like I said...that bone.....
Anyone have an idea of the model #?

Just took a gander at the catalogs, and the nearest match I can find is in the original 1926 catalog,
L1153
Jack knife, 3 3/8" long, steel lined, long steel bolsters, black inside, glaze finish blade, BoneStag handles
Only thing is the bolster is a little bit different, but it's the closest match I can find.
Regarding the L1153, I know the first 1 is the number of blades, the next two numbers 15 would be the pattern number, and the 3 is a reference to the handle material. However I couldn't find an explanation of what the L represents....
...once again though, not 100% sure it's the right knife, due to the slight bolster difference...

Re: My latest Schrade
Mike, the L stands for "long", as in the long bolsters. The standard 1153 has regular bolsters. With those threads on your bolsters I'd actually consider your knife a barlow, just didn't get the "Schrade" imprint. I've seen a number of them like that, even think I have one or two. I'll hafta go lookin'.
Garddogg that's a beauty!
