Thanks Junebug. I do take a walk about quite a bit while hunting, etc. Never found one yet. Lots of obsidian though.
Just like hunting, you have to know where to look. Mom in law is not giving up the arrowhead "honey hole" location just yet.

Re: Outdoorsman Thread
Thanks Rider. I am very impressed with the functionality and the lack of recoil with this rifle. I like it a lot. My son got me 300 rounds of .223 and three-thiry round mags for it. I ordered this scope for it, don't know the quality but the guy has sold a lot of them. With my poor old tired eyes I can either see the front sight or the target, but not both at the same time. Hoping this helps.1967redrider wrote:Looks like a fun outing, Scott. I spent part of today in the snow country of Southwestern PA helping my Dad pick up processed beef from the butcher with 3" of snow on the ground and gusty winds. Needless to say there was no chance of the meat thawing today. Looks like you guys had great weather where you were.
tj, sweet rifle.

Yeah buddy!
Then the kids got fed up with not catching fish so I took them and we gathered logs and sticks and built a fort.....or, at least that's what I told 'em it was
Kids love tearin' up trees and draggin' 'em!
We've got more "mission" adventures planned for Sat. morning! I think I'm more excited than they are!

Deer season has been fairly slow so far. Our rut doesn't peak till about the 3rd week of January. The day after Christmas started doe hunting for 7 days, ends on Jan 1st. Haven't heard of any big deer being killed yet. Here is a picture of a spike I busted in the corn patch behind the house a few weeks back and a doe I killed this afternoon on our lease. Deer season ends in late Feb. in west Florida. Weather is cool enough now to hang one for a few days wrapped in a fly bag, in fact it is 34 degrees tonight. Maybe ol' big boy will show up in a few weeks!

PigSticker, That is my wife's dog. She is 1/2 Choc. Lab and 1/2 Australian Shep. There are several pictures of her in the AAPK "Show us your pets" thread on pgs. 18 & 19. She won't "catch" but she will blood trail. Treefarmer

TF-
I can taste some venison chili from here. Nice harvest and good eating!
Hoping to go this weekend at my folks place down south in Texas (San Angelo area) as I didn't take a doe yet for this years burgers, chili, back strap steak and the like. Dad says the does are getting a little better looking from early season and there's even some decent bucks ranging. Might have to take one of each?

Scott, you are killing me with the mid 50's weather. 2 degrees this morning with a -7 windchill with some "Pogonip Fog". High of 28 degrees. Not the best weather but could always be worse.

It is all good Scott. Trade off for loving where you live.
Yes some great weather you are having. I worked in Florida off and on over the years. A month here, a month there. Beautiful state and great weather.
This is home whatever the weather. Besides the Grandson is only 1 mile away when he is not at our place. Priceless. He is 4 and will probably be getting a .410 a few years from now. He already loves hunting as he goes out with my son on some big game hunts.
Regards, Jerry

The DNR has just issued a license for a new species of game. They've declared open season on Uncle Ted and all his followers!! But, the licenses are only being issued to DNR and Fish and Game agents! What's next, a bounty on his head?

Re: Outdoorsman Thread
Just watched 7 Hooded Mergansers dawn theit landing gear and land in our retention pond. Moments before that I saw 2 Mallards. I love the great outdoors even in the heart of the city.
Yesterday I took my grandsons and great nephew on a mission. Man, what a good time we had!
Started the day off by spotting 10 turkeys alongside the road.
Built a fort. Climbed vines and more.....
Ended the day by sneaking up on 4 deer.
Sorry the pics are terrible...they were taken with my cell....
