Camillus with darken blade

I purchased a Camillus N.Y. 2-1976 and the blade is black. Where the blades treated with some thing to stop them rusting.

I believe that is Parkerizing or some other form of electrochemical coating on blade to preventing rust.

Dale I was going to clean it and after having a good look I noticed a distinct line where the black finished.Now I will leave it alone and put in my collection.

Definitely leave it be. As Dale said, it is supposed to be that way. I prefer Parkerizing over that black crap Ka-Bar puts on their combat knives these days. For me, it's more traditional. They used to put it on all the straight knives and handguns for the U.S. military so that's probably where I picked up my prejudice.
