Oh well, the Mrs. tells me we have an honored guest, my 11 month old granddaughter, coming to spend the night tonight, so it's still going to be a good weekend even if I don't go knifin'.
Enjoy your sleepover!
I cant wait for my grandaughter to be old enough for that. (10 mo and on the boob)
Everyone says how grandkids are great, cause you can give them back when you get tired of them.
The problem is, I never reach that point and its always hard to give them back...

Scott & Brian good morning - and a future good morning to all the rest (whenever they roll out). Enjoying that first cup, going to put the balance of the yard decorations out this morning and be done with that! Looking for a Buck Muskrat knife to come in the mail - that's something to look forward to for the day. OH.

Good morning all. I have a Kershaw Scallion coming in today's mail. This one's black and the last one. Unless they come up with something different I like (like bright orange) and can afford, I'm pretty much done with the Scallions.Old Hunter wrote: Looking for a Buck Muskrat knife to come in the mail - that's something to look forward to for the day. Mornin' fellers.
I am headed off to Eugene this mornin' in 2 hours or so.
Today is the OKCA (Oregon Knife Collectors Association) Mini-Show.
This is always a fun show since I don't show here and can buy and talk to friends!
I usually find great old knives & sometimes handle material here as well; stag, ivory & micarta are some of the goodies I have picked up in the past.
My wife is going with me and she is Christmas shopping while I am at the show! What a woman! Life is great!

Order up! Morning all. Yesterday- 65 degrees and balmy, today, 35 for high with 30 mph north winds. And I am stupid enough to go try to hunt pheasant aka the ditch chicken after church.

Morning Thomas - might not be a good day for hunting - but you will NEVER shoot anything sitting on the couch at home watching football (that's what I always tell myself about hunting when I know I should stay home!) Morning gents, sipping that first cup now, church later, then a slow & easy day at home. OH

Re: First Cup Diner!
I don't know why it is but I tend to wake up earlier on Saturday and Sunday than I do during the week. Guess it's because I know I don't have to go to work so I can enjoy the day more. Anyhow I'm up and have been for an hour or so. Just now starting on a big ole travel mug of coffee. Hope everyone has a blessed day.

Re: First Cup Diner!
Mornin' fellers,
I slept in to 0630 this mornin' late for me.
I went to the OKCA mini show for about 3-1/2 hours yesterday. Had a great time & got great stuff,
several knives, a new clamping device to hold knives when working on them and a nice round of stag.
But probably what I am most excited about is that I finally got one of my most sought after Old Timer. It was a pattern that had eluded me for 6 years! Well, at least at a reasonable price though you can occasionally find one for an absurd price on fleabay.
I think collecting is more about the hunt than just going out & spending a wad of money for a pile of knives. The hunt is at least half the fun!!
Well, I been a' huntin' this bad boy for 6 years and I sniffed him out! He was hidin' under this feller's table.
So I got the feller in an hunker a talkin' 'bout Old Timers. Soon I was able to determine that he had a second one that was not in his display case (the full display wasn't for sale). Well, long story short, I got this bad boy for $40! It was a glorious stalk & kill!
Here is my trophy

Phil, you callin' me old?
You must be 'cause he was a young feller, maybe very early 40s tops, probably was in his 30s though.
So I must be the "good ole boy."
He has a couple full displays, just for folks to look at (not for sale).
Nice to a young guy with so many nice Old Timers.
We do need some young blood once in a while in this hobby!
