Rebuilt Hammer

Post by Paladin 51 »

I got this from 313Mike. I rebuilt the liners, added bolsters, scales and shield and cleaned up blades. Turned out OK as this is the 4th knife I have done.

Wow! I love it!

That's just great looking, especially with that shield. I'm going to have to get my act together here.

Very nice work.

Great job Ken...you've given that old knife a new life, and turned it into something special and one of a kind! ::tu::

Now I don't know how you did that? Was that a shell to start? It certainly looks great now. Way to go P51!

Ken sure did an amazing job on this one....and yes it most certainly did start out it's life as a shell. This is it in the upper left corner of this pic, as I received it in a p.o.s. roundtable last year! Looked like it got ran over by a tractor, and when I popped off the shell handle it was filled with old brown grass and dirt. But she still had good strong snap and no blade wobble, so I used it without hanldes for a while. Then I sent it to Ken and he gave it a new life as a beautifully crafted piece of custom cutlery!

All I used from original pic is blades and springs. I cut new brass liners as the originals had the little tabs cut out in the end. Of course had to solder new bolsters. Did another knife that turned out pretty good but will let owner show pics.

Thanks for all the replies.

So this old Imperial could go down the same path or keep it as a shell rebuild. I have renewed hope.

Yeah Chief, this and my post on $3 knife started life as a shell handled knife like the silver one in your pic. Only thing i kept was blades and springs and built rest. There is lots of hope for your knife.
