Ed Wusthof knife

I have a two blade folding knife with mother of pearl scales and the master blade is stamped Ed Wusthof with the trident below it and I am having trouble finding any info on it. the length is 2 3/4 and the main blade is about 2 1/8 inches the second blade is about 1 inch pen blade. Any information about the period that folding knives were made by wusthof would be appreciated and I will post pictures as soon as I can. Thanks

Ed. Wusthof started up in 1814, according to Goins and they are still in business. At least they were when he published the book.
In looking at the photo of the knife, I feel sure it is not recent production. My GUESS would be that it was made sometime around the early 1900s. It is what I call a Sunday knife or more properly, a vest pocket knife.

I agree with Ray on your knife.
Heres a Wusthof that I own......I believe it has been awhile since they made actual folding knives...mostly kitchen cutlery of late.

That's about all I could come up with on line is kitchen cutlery. Thanks very much for the info. How do Wusthof knives rate on a collectable scale?

Levine rates their collectibility at Medium. My personal thought is that Levine is being generous in that rating. Not trying to downgrade your knife but there is not likely to be a big demand, at least in my opinion.
I would say that the only way to know for sure is to put it on eBay and start it at about $5 or so and see where it goes, dollar wise.

Judging from the size of it and the bail I think it was probably a watch fob knife possibly made in the 1930's. Although I have quite a few pearl scaled knives of that size made in Germany(and other places)it is unusual to see one with a bail.It is usually stated that the longer than normal bolsters were used as a way to utilize smaller pieces of pearl and thus get more scales from the stock available.I have several Wusthof knives including some really strange looking fixed blades that I have no idea what their use was.
While it will likely never be worth a whole lot of money it is nonetheless a nice little knife.

I know this is an old thread, but check this out. A guy in England found this in his barn. What would you think this would date back to? I haven't seen anything like it.

Yes they are making only kitchen knives and I have a set of steak knives as a matter of fact. But is it possible this is a pruning knife that possibly had a grafting blade, or would this be some sort of rigging knife? Anybody with any idea?

Yes. It should be a curved pruner blade, paired with the folding pruners. Appears that around half the blade has broken off at one point.

On another note, I'm surprised there aren't many decent multitools with folding pruners--the good ones are all discontinued (Leatherman Genus and Hybrid, plus some older designs) and the current ones are all junk. At least I have an ARS pair that folds up pretty small.

Here's another Wusthof I thought I'd add to the thread. This one's stamp is different with the trident between just the initials, E W, over Solngen. The blades are a bit worn, but it will make someone a nice user.
