A pair of schrades in Elk

This was the last of my elk

. Neither have pins, and were done per customers request. The 124UH has "fresh" elk that turned out rather thin (great for pocket carry). The 61OT got thicker dropped elk, it had very little texture and the mark side polished up almost like mammoth ivory, the pic doesn't do it justice.

thanks guys. He didn't want any filework, I think it would have really spiced that 124UH up, it was a trade so were even now

Thanks All! Yeah, I've been experimenting with different color backgrounds for different knives, tan and black work great for most, but the blue just looked so good with that fresh elk. I'm tryin' anyway

Just in time for garage sales again. I have seen last year an Elk head mounted for sale. I think it went for $20.00. Would this help you if I find one or does it have to be new??

If the antler is solid and not pithy, like those shed in the wild that lay there for a couple years in the weather, then they should be fine.
I don't need the head though & I doubt MM does either.

Though come to think of it, if it still has the teeth, I would like those. I think I might be able to do some sort of handle inlay with them. I know they slice Mammoth teeth for handles. While the elk teeth aren't big enough for that, they might produce some nice ivory type spacers or inlays.

The old pithy antler can be stablized. They look good in the gray color or they can be dyed prior to stabilization. One way to save old antler.

I picked up an old motor a couple weeks ago at an estate sale for $2.50. I ordered a new arbor form Jantz & for less than $40 I have a new buffer!

Some other cool stuff I have found include:
A Case XX boning knife
2 Cattaraugus Kitchen knives
2 Shapleigh Hardware Old Hickory kitchen knives
1 Ontario Knife Co Old Hickory kitchen knife
& an 18" Old Hickory chef knife. This was the most expensive at $3.
A miter chop saw for $25.

I love garage sales!

That would be great Ken, the antler would be fresh looking and still have the nice color. I don't need the head, they don't have the original teeth in them anyway, those are left in the skull, merely the skull cap and cape is retained for a head/shoulder mount. I wouldn't need the head. If you run accross one Ken, let me know, just hacksaw the rack off the head and do what you want with it, just let me know what I owe you for the rack
