Case Stag Damascus...Price question????

Post by swede88 »

I just bought a bunch of knives off a guy a work who needed some Christmas money. It's a Case damascus Stag fixed blade measuring about 6 1/4" overall, no box or papers knife is dead mint sheath non original. Never sharpened & 1998 model. Do any of you guys have any idea what it might be worth? I didn't see any prices on the case price guide on fixed blades. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Blade stamp reads:
Casexx
Bradford,PA
19 USA 90
BSS-2 3/4 D (not sure about the first 2 letters)

Thanks & God Bless!~

OK, I just got out the magnifying glass & found I had misprinted the info
The pattern is: 595-2 3/4 D

So what I found was it has stag handle matterial model 95-2 3/4 I guess. Is this right? I can't really find any info on Case Fixed blades...can anyone help??? I was also wondering if the -2 means second cut stag? Anyinfo would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks & God Bless!~

Hi Swede,

You might want to check out the following link...
http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... c.php?t=52

I would bet that yours was a limited run like the knife in the above link....???

You may consider geting a hold of Case's valuable historian at...
[email protected]
and asking about it.

Bryan is right on the money about the short run...it was done in 1990 when Parker still owned Case. Although I thought the pattern number was 596-2 3/4 D. Anyhow the 2 3/4 is the length of the blade and the "D" is for Damascus. There's a picture of one on my web site under Case fixed blades.

Perry,

Thanks for your reply. I looked more closely the model could be
596-2 3/4 D. Any Idea how many were made?

Thanks & God Bless!~

Here's a pic of my case boot knife & the Damascus. I talked to the Case historian & she said that they didn't have record of it but the People at Bear Cutlary found several Parker era Damascus pieces that have come out of Jacksonville, AL Bear & Sons plant that were proto types that Parker & his son have verified. Tell me what you think?[/img]
