Help with Crown Cutlery knife....

Post by robdillpdx »

Hi there everyone,

Long time fan of the forum, your boards have answered many questions for me, but I am in need of help. I recently came across a Crown Cutlery Co. 2 blade knife, and have never seen the tang stamp before. Hopefully there will be a pic of it with this post, it's my first attempt so bear with me.

Any info you have is much appreciated!

Thanks,

Rob

Some basic info, measures 3 1/8" closed, large blade is 1 3/4", short one is 1 1/2", both have same tang stamp. I have seen the tang stamp where Crown Cutlery Co is arched over New York, but never this one and can't find any info on it, I am trying to date it as it appears to have some real age to it.

Thanks,

Rob

Your knife was made between 1916 and 1919. Crown Cutlery also imported some of their knives from Germany and Austria during the 1910s and 1920s. Those knives will be marked Austria, Germany, Prussia, or Rhineland instead of USA. Nice knife. ::tu::

Always looking for vintage knives with Virginia, Maryland, or Washington D.C. tang stamps. Any condition.

Thank you so much, I think I found a new brand to look for, it is surprisingly well made. Well thanks again!
