OLD CASE KNIFE

i got this knife on ebay along with some other stuff..
it has not been sharpened the handles are perfect
the blades are tight and the file
knife appears unused
just wondering if someone could give me some more info on it and its worth
the blades are tarnished but no pits at all

the tang stamp does'nt look right to me. i could be wrong but the xx should be centered under case. any other marking on any blades?

how long is the knife closed? it looks like a 63088 pattern to me which is 3 1/8 inches closed or it could be a 63102 which is 2 3/4 inches closed. looks like greenish bone handles and if the tang stamp is correct, it would have been made between 1920-40. the xx should be centered under case but other than that, it looks pretty good to me.

knifeaholi i can't find that tang stamp in any of my books. long tail c ase over testedxx is all i can find. please educate me. ist a 102? with flat bolsters?

Looks lke a 63102 with flat bolsters to me Johnnie. That stamp is sometimes seen on smaller knives like the 29 1/2 pattern tadpole or the 042 pattern.

i know the stamp can be seen at http://www.wrcase.com/case_college/tang_logo_stamp/
it is 2 3/4 inches
so is it a 63102??

should i leave it alone or try to clean it up??
you thank it would be a $50 or $100 or more--i really dont plan to sell it--just curious..

yes, if its 2 3/4, its a 63102. as for the cleaning up, it wouldnt hurt to rub it down with some metal glo. that should shine her right up and wont hurt the knife. its a great looking knife. as for value, parkers lists it for 350 in mint condition. it hard to say what it would actually bring but i would guess it would be in the 50 to 100 price range on ebay. hope it helps.

That appears to be what Swayne called a full line case. I think on the stamp Jonet is thinking about the line only comes under the s in case. Swayne called the full line RA-2 for rarity. However that was in 1976 so probably out of date.

i like the way the backspring on the main blade works
how rare would a RA-2 be ??
is there any way to tell on these knives if it was made closer to the 20s or the 40s?
