help -- Ranger stockman is a nailbuster

I picked up a Ranger stockman at the flea market a couple of weeks back and it is a beast to open... to the point that i've been using a penny in the nail nick.
When I bought it, I brought it home and cleaned it up with a nylon brush and hot dish-soapy water. I actually started it very hot dish-water and left it for a couple days to soak. I then pulled it out and doused it with a very liberal application of wd-40. I then left the WD-40 in place for several days followed that with more dish-soap and brushing. I got a lot of gunk out, but it's still VERY difficult to open. I have another Ranger stockman and it's nowhere near as stiff.
Any ideas/suggestions?

Repeat the cleaning process and after the hot soapy dish water, try Burchwood Casey Gun Scrubber to blast out more gunk, then compressed air, WD-40 then compressed air.

If you are still getting gunk out, it 'taint clean yet.

Hopefully you have access to an air compressor and that helps blast gunk out too.
The Gun Scrubber has a lot of pressure in it too, blast it beneath the blades when they are half opened.
That helps get gunk out.
