Historical review of Buck 110 pivots and bushings?

Post by pinnah »

Can anybody give or point me to a review of the various pin and bushing assemblies that Buck has used over the years?

Can somebody educate me as to how bushing wear causes vertical play in a lock back?

I've noticed that my more recent Bucks have developed vertical play with hard use. My understanding is that
a) Buck has added bushings and changed bushing materials over the years and
b) Bushing wear is associated with vertical play.

At this point, I'm just trying to understand what was changed with respect to the pivot pins and bushings over the years and how that might affect the durability of a 110 (or similar knife).

Anything you could share just based on your recollection and experience in working on them would be a tremendous help.

Again, I'm interested in 2 things...

first is how the bushing can wear to allow vertical play.

Second is to better understand if and how Buck changed things over the years.
