Show off your fixed blades!

I have very few fixed blades, but the ones I have seem to be custom either because I added a handle or bought some from local makers.

Here is my go to knife for hunting/camping. It was designed by me, made by James Whitten in Alabama and leather made by Paul Long in Texas.

Wow! You guys are showin' some fine lookin' knives here! Oldgblinddog, love that green canvas micarta on your very useful looking custom. I can see why it's your "go to" knife. Rustle47, that a very nice line up of fixed blade knives for a guy who doesn't have many!!!

Here's one that I made from an old saw blade (seasoned very nicely) and some whitetail deer antler I had laying around. The pins are solid brass. I made this to be a patch knife for my buckskinning/muzzle loader hunting kit. The sheath is sewn into the strap on my shooting bag. I patterned it after one that was popular in the frontier days. I'm one of those guys who still does muzzle loader season completely traditional, all side locks, iron sights, and patched round balls.

I like everything about that Schrade: the proportion of handle to blade, the lines of that handle that flow into the blade. Looks custom made. Outstanding.

In contrast to the fine F&F of the Schrade, here is a somewhat crudely made Mexican Bowie. Thought to be pre-WWII but impossible to establish date. I think the maker took pride in his simple knife having scratched his name on it. No doubt he was very limited in his supplies and tools yet he produced a very serviceable knife.

Slim: Awesome knife. Years ago before beginning to enter the hobby of knives I recall reading an article or seeing pictures of the work of a man who had a great reputation for his battle blades. If I am not mistaken his name was (is) Dilluvio. Popular with certain warrior types. If your knife is from him you have a fine blade. [Wish I could be sure of this, but there has been a considerable passage of time.]

A new addition to the herd, Bark River's Gunny model. This one has the swedged blade and I had the ramp ground off...make's it more user friendly...JMO. A neat little knife, I've been using it in the kitchen and around the yard, a real nice user.
