Compass
I though I show a Compass or two. Most of you hunters should have one .Now the young generation uses GPS.The old hand held compass is from WW2.The older black one was purchased the 29th May 1947 for $8 .I do not know if it was new or second hand when purchased.

Re: Compass
I like them and have several around. I don't use them much but there's something good about them, like having a good pocket knife.

Re: Compass
I love compasses. Learned about them in Army days and enjoyed running compass courses. Hope the military still teaches the compass. I have a couple of lensatic compasses. A variety of compasses would make an interesting collection.

Re: Compass
This 902OT is the only Old Timer that was not a knife.
It originally appeared first in the 1988 catalog and was last listed in 1990.
In 1988 the MSRP was $17.95 and when to $19.95 in 1990.
It was not an expensive compass, but not cheap either in the late 80s.

A Capt. who says, "I have been thinking...."

Re: Compass
A bit more seriously, the most dangerous rank I ever encountered were Lt.Colonels bucking for full Colonel.
I never had a problem with lower ranks, except for one or two I had to shoot for making fun of officers.

Re: Compass
Sweet, and useful, compasses guys.
knife7, I've been looking for a vintage Marbles wrist compass.
Here's a few I have; a vintage Marbles short tang and pocket, a Silva out of my Buckmaster, a cheap but functional survival knife end cap compass (courtesy of Jim Frost) and a non-functioning (regardless of how the blades are positioned) Cattaraugus scout compass. Always good to know where you're headed.

Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

I went through boot camp at MCRD San Diego so had never been to Pleasure Island (Parris Island). When I went to the Cherry Point area in 2007 for a LAAM reunion, I left early, stopped to see a couple of old buddies, one in Burlington, the other in Mocksville and then drove on down to Parris Island for a look-see. I got lost looking for the museum and stopped a fella in civilian clothes coming from what turned out to be the officers club. I told him, "I'm as lost as a 2nd Lieutenant with a map and a compass." He grinned and says, "That bad huh?"
I only have a couple. Both gifts from one of my best buddy's.
