The was the first one I saw with Black micarta handles and not the red.

It comes in several colors, not sure how many but I had a bone color handled one.

I had it and sold it this summer on fleabay.
It looked just like the black micarta but blonde in color.

knifetime, when you said red, did you mean maroon? I have one in maroon micarta, it's part of the shaw-liebowitz wild life series from the mid seventies, Tim

That's a nice looking old knife, thx for posting. I'm glad I read the listing ... I did not know that the name was changed from Esquire to Squire in 1985, I thought it was a typo at first. Interesting tidbit of info.
My Squire is newer, but is a handy sized knife, as are the slightly smaller Prince and Knight. It's always nice to find a nice pre '85 example of them.

Mine all have the reddish wood, I think they call it Birchwood? I'm not really sure if it is real wood or synthetic laminate, but it is very durable.
